Well thats a thing.
Just watched tonight's 6.00 pm news on BBC1 & there was an update on the overhaul at Coventry of PA474.
Did notice Robert Hall's major gaff, in ststing this was the only Lancaster left in the UK - think he meant airworthy.
The story showd several in hanger shots of the old girl in the nude 'so to speak' as she has been stripped back to bare metal.
There was also a brief 'in flight' view inside the BBMF's DC3 before the story wound up be taking 'you' inside PA474.
The new livery is still under wraps but (according to Mr Hall) the plane is expected OK in April.

The new scheme was announced in Flypast magazine shortly after she arrived at Coventry, so I think what he ment was there will be no photos of the aircraft once it has been painted until the unvailing at Coninigsby in April.

I saw something on BBC News 24 tonight waiting for the flight home ( couldn't hear what was being said, sound was low, airport PA etc), but they were doing a thing from the BBMFs Dakota. Underneath was the caption "The last operational Dakota". Who would have thunk it...only one left flying!

Thats what I thought, Tom. As ever, the media remains steadfastly unperturbed by fact.
Just like the time a newspaper ran an article about the carrier USS Enterprise in the build up to the Gulf War, asserting that it was named in honour of the starship. Not only that, but the article was accompanied by a photograph of the previous one, which fought in WW2, not the current nuclear powered one.
I wrote a letter to the editor but they didn't publish it. Maybe because I added that my neighbour's three-legged cat could edit a paper better than him...
