This threat always appears to raise its ugly head when-ever Defence cuts are demanded.

Well, if it does come to that, just hope he doesn't axe them before I go to visit the Red Arrows at Scampton in weeks time to meet the pilots and watch them practise for the 2007 season. :worried:

Absolutely outrageous. I sincerely hope this idea is put to bed before it snowballs.

Just goes to show that the people who run this country are completely clueless!
Defence cuts are the last thing we need as more and more people hate us as a result of being best mates with the US.

That article says the Red Arrows cost £5 million a year to run.

Extremely good value for money if you ask me.

£5milion to run a year.... I wonder how much the average premiership footballer earns in a year...

I suppose the BBMF will be next.

Unless, of course, they are to be our line of defence after they've got rid of everything else!

If they need to save £5m a year, they could start by stopping benefits for all those people who choose not to work or seek work, even though they have no disability that prevents them from working :huf:

Beyond our own interest in aircraft, and being the RAF's publicity tool, the Red Arrows are an icon of 'Britishness', seen by many around the world both inside and outside of hobbies like ours, and to lose them would be another loss to the identity of Britain.

...or whenever the Express needs something to fill a space in the front page.

A bit of a non-story methinks.

Best wishes
