Texture Pack 3 not loading in FS9

Hi,
1st post from me, firstly to say thanks to all of you for your work.

Having grown up in Guernsey to the sound of dart engines flying overhead everyday on the wings of heralds, viscounts, 748s etc. it has been great to be able to 'fly' them!
Hopefully Rick you might be able to help. I've downloaded the 748, followed all the instructions but the schemes from tex pack 3 don't appear on the drop down menu in fs9. (1 & 2 loaded fine). All the files appear in the 748 folder in the aircraft folder. Frustrating because I helped a friend out last night, and they loaded on his system. Only difference, he is running XP, but I have a new pc with Vista.
The opening line of the cfg file shows as follows "//HS748 V 1.0 Base Package, Pack 1, Pack2". I tried editing & adding Pack 3 but that didn't resolve it. I am a novice in this area so took a educated guess but it didn't work.
Any advice gratefully received.

Hi Chris
Sounds like you didn't let the auto installer do it's job.
the only way the install fails is if you extract it to a folder instead of your FS9 folder.
you can do it this way but it ends with mistakes.
The self installer works every time for me here just tried it 4 times in a row & no problem (i downloaded that file from the link you did just to make sure).
Run the installer again.
Let me know if it works or not (you can run the installer as many times as you want as it just overwrites the same files each time)
Regards
Rick
Edit: sorry just saw the vista part.
Right amke a new folder on your desktop (right mouse button then new folder)
run the installer & point it at the new folder.
then when it's finished copy & paste the contents of the new folder into the Aircraft/FSDS3 HS.748 folder & it should work.
please bear in mind i don't have vista as it has more bugs than FSX and is still a beta that you pay for

Texture Pack 3 not installing

Thanks for your prompt reply.
Firstly, I confirm that originally I did let the auto installer do its job and subsequently with my fellow pilot where it installed successfully.
Secondly, I have tried what you suggested and all the new folders/files have copied over into the FSDS3 HS748 folder from one on the desktop but :-({|= they still don't come up as options when I load FS9.
All the variants appear in the aircraft.cfg file up to & including:
[fltsim.85]
title=FSDS3 HS748 Indian Air Force AEW
I note that in the Texture Pack 3 (extracted) there is an image file texpack that isn't in either Packs 1 or 2 although I guess this goes with the different variants.
I could e-mail the cfg file for you to look at if that helps.
Obviously I still have plenty of choices of livery to choose from but it's a mystery to me (and possibly to you?) when all seems to have installed right!
Over the weekend, I'll try again but if you have any other ideas, let me know.
NB I didn't deliberately set out to buy a pc with vista, it's only by the time we decided to do it, they were being shipped with it pre-installed!

Hi Chris
If you have the Indian AF flying chipate in the cfg your not missing anything.
I can only guess that Vista is not allowing permission for something to get installed.
Send me your address and i will send you a cd with the full install on it so you can just copy it over and see if that works.
(send address via Private Message)
Regards
Rick

Hi Chris
Regarding your problem with Vista, if you have a previous copy of WinXP from your older machine you can always install it!
Otherwise you can download ******* ********** *******: its freeware and no bugs!!

... and almost certainly illegal, hence the edit to remove the name.
