UK Scenery

I'm about to move on to a new computer and I've got everything set up
to transfer FS9 and all its add ons that I use (He says confidently

).
While I'm on with this I've never known if I've been using the best overall UK scenery so can anyone recommend the best UK scenery either payware or freeware?. I'm not talking about localised stuff like airports but the landscape we fly over.
Thanks

Hi Stegs..
I'm surprised no one has answered this already but there
is only one UK scenery worthy of comment and it's UKVFR Photoscenery plus UKVFR Terrain (which includes an update to the VFR Photo stuff). JustFlight are the current retailers but have a search as I'm sure you can pick it up for less than the RRP
If you want airfields.. again, there is only one developer that covers the entire UK.. Gary Summons UK2000 (sold in various guises). Unfortunately, there are 8 packs to buy for complete coverage but GS may do discounts for this sort of thing

I can only echo Dave's recommendation of the UKVFR Terrain and the UK2000 airports. Personally I'm not convinced that the Photoscenery is worthwhile but, if you decide otherwise, I have a full set available here for a reasonable price!!
A few other items to consider. Visual Flight (
http://www.visualflight.info/) have the wonderful Scotflight scenery, the fun RIAT Fairford, the VFR London and Nick Ryall's SW England. If your taste is for military flying then I find that some of Gary's RAF stations are not up to scratch, so I have a fair number of Steve Anderson's, available at
http://www.militaryairfields.com.

Actually, this thread seems like a sensible place to ask for a little help, without going OT or hijacking, as it could be relevant for others!!
I now use both UKVFR Terrain and UT Europe. The effect this has on St Marys in the Scillys is entertaining; the runways, taxiways and buildings are all fine EXCEPT for the fact that they are floating in the Atlantic!!! Obviously a conflict, has anybody come across this one and do they have a solution, short of removing one or other of those two products?

Thanks for replies guys. I'll give the UKVFR a whirl when I get everything set up.

Hi Andy,
I don't have UT Europe (though I've considered getting it on numerous occassions). The main reason I've not added to basket thus far has been my worry that it might conflict with VFRT and reading of your problem, I'm glad I didn't

Doing an 'all-in-one' pack is a great idea and keeps the price down (I'd imagine) but there will be inevitable drawbacks and it looks like, sadly, you've found one
I wonder if it would be possible to find the mesh area file that covered the UK and pull it

Aahh the FS9 Global Warming addon
Actually I have found this thread very usefull as I have the UK2000 scenery & note a comment about about the poster not thinking Gary Summons military airfield are up to much.
As I like to fly UK military & frequent the likes of Marham, Waddington etc I think I shall have to investigate the
http://www.militaryairfields.com./ link. Is this freeware or payware BTW.

Don't know where it's come from....maybe default maybe addon but I have an airport listed as "London" and it is in the middle of the English Channel.

All payware Bob unfortunately. I've quite a few of these and they always seem to hit my frames. While there's no doubting the accuracy, SteveA can be a little 'over exuberant' with his poly's.

My advice is definetly get the VFR Terrain - it makes a fantastic difference. If you do a lot of low flying (under 1000ft) the VFR Photo Scenery will look like Mush and the default autogen is much better. If you fly higher than 2000ft then the VFR Photo Scenery is very good.
