Nice collection !

I am a bit puzzled about the first one:
Look at the titles ! I believe it should normally read "Royal Air Force"
Does anyone know more about this strange bird ?

I thought that I knew what this was about, and confirmed by http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Open_skies

Under Military Regulation:

"The Treaty on Open Skies, signed in Helsinki (1992), is a multinational sacrifice of air sovereignty to enhance military transparency and build confidence by permitting observation flights over almost the full territory of each signatory state"

There was another aircraft at one of the IAT with similar markings

An-26 of an eastern european air force is all I can remember right now.

I've done some work on her. Lovely bird, pity she's an Andover *ducks the flying comments*.

Flies out to eastern European countries quite a bit, you get the hint that for some unknown reason we don't trust them!

The Open Skies treaty is basically legalized spying. We get e-mails every now and again reporting on the latest flights. Apparently its a good laugh, if not a little tiring.

We use, as was mentioned, the HS.780, namely 596.
I believe the Yanks use an OC-135B (A converted KC-135) and a Herc.
The Russians use An-30 + other a/c.
The Sweeds use a Saab TP 100A

I think the Russians also played with the idea of using a Tu-154...not sure what happened to that one.

Google/Airliners.net are a rather good source for images in this instance.

There are loads of restrictions regarding the use of different camera/sensory suites. See Here.

As far as I know, only the OC-135B is authorized for flights at the moment. The C-130E that was being used was pulled off due to fatigue issues (cracks in the wing spar). The big thing with not using the TU-134 was noise and certification issues, but the other problem was the plane not being able to fly at the range of altitudes and speeds required for the Open Skies Treaty.
