Heat Effect

Hi all,

does anyone know of a good Heat Effect program for use with FS9? Its something that seems to have been overlooked by M$ and I think its a realistic touch that should feature.

Perhaps its not possible but can't the smoke cfg be tweeked or something to enable a little blurring behind the engines to simulate the heat escaping? :dunno:

Hi,

The only model I've noticed it on is the Aerosoft BAe146. When I was fiddling with textures there was this weird 'effect' behind the engines as I'd left the texture off. This is actually built as part of the model though so wouldn't help you. It was quite cleverly done though.

The now freeware DSB Hawk has a fairly good heat blur effect that is an effect file toggled by a gauge on the panel so it may be what you are looking for.

You should be able to pick the packages up from the big three plus UKMIL.

You might not have to go to far. I'm not absolutely sure, but I seem to remember both an exhaust and a heat blurry effect while starting the VC10.

I'm pretty sure that DM can tell if that is the case.

There is a standard smoke puff effect on starting

It might be possible to change the smoke to very transparent giving that effect but it would only be a quick puff not continuous.

Hi Vegas,

If you search on AVSIM for Nick Needham he has done a number of files which give various smoke/heat effects for engines.

Try to do a search on Nick Needham over at AVSIM, something might pop up....

Ah you beat me to it Colin ;-)

Hi Colin

Do they run continous or just during normal smoky times?

Hi Garry,

He has a number of files on AVSIM, some of which produce their effect in response to throttle settings. I tried one of them some time ago (Ican't remember which) and seem to remember liking the effect. Unfortunately it was a casualty of my last reformat.
