Interesting Toby

Reason being I was only looking last night in google earth at the Aeropark and noted that the Argosy was not looking too good and appeared to be moss /grime covered on the top wing

I thought this to be an optical illusion but sadly it appears not

'ES could do with a bit of TLC as well :huf:

Can't afford to lose this valuable exhibits. :crying:

Thanks for showing us the pics.

You'd be lucky lol.

Still, good to see things are still in shape. ZF588 started this aeroplane loving business for me..

Not often you see an Argosy and a V1 together either

It does seem an odd mix of aircraft.

Yes, the Argosy does look in a sorry state, what with panels missing 'n' all.

I visited the Aeropark in '95, when it was on the south side of the Airport, where I believe a Terminal now stands.

I don't know why they didn't keep the Vanguard (G-APES) intact. :dunno:

I heard a rumour....and that's probably all it is, even if dafter things have been true.............that G-APES was broken up in error by the contractors. :k:

I have often wondered if there was any grain of truth in this seeing the the aircraft was intact, valuable as an historic relic, on site and could have been moved to the museum perhaps easier than just a nose as it could have been towed.

The reason I raise this is to ask if anybody has any idea as to why 'ES was scrapped.

:dunno:
