John, fleet managers, etc:

I would like to propose that all routes into and out of Le Bourget be diverted to DeGaulle.

The reason that I ask about it is becuase it is very difficult to get in and out of LeBourget in FS as there is not a suitable addon that removes DeGaulle and puts LeBourget back to the way it was. With both FS ATC and online ATC it's a pain to get in and out over the arrival/departure streams, especially in our aircraft which aren't exactly known for being the best at slowing down and descending at the same time.

An interesting suggestion but not one I'm sure I'd be keen to go with?? Are there no alternate routes for the likes of the 1-11 to CDG already available?? Slowing down in the majority of aircraft that would have used LBG is not so much a problem as getting them going! LBG was the main destination for much of our fleet and I'd hate to see it go.

Should routes not be available from the main departure airfields to CDG to bring the later aircraft more into line, I'd have no worry that alternates were made.

Hmmm....... I can't say the idea lights my fire. We do have several routes to CDG with different aircraft types and as far as we possibly can I think I'd like to stay with some authenticity. Changing completely to one airport I don't think is an option in this instance. Maybe Vatsim can rise to the challenge for your flights to LBG to slot you in a bit more effectively in future.

MS ATC is actually the bigger annoyance. VATSIM ATC will work with you, but the charts are the charts (base altitude of 6000 until beyond the approaches, then a minimum of 2000FPM descent to get down to join the LLZ). The problem is that the airspace setup is the same, you can't just fly through the approaches for CDG when you're going into LeBourget.

Understand if it's not changed.

Also, there's no CDG flights in the 1-11 from Birmingham or Manchester. They're all to LeBourget (Birmingham) or Orly (Manchester).

This is like the discussions we had about KaiTak and the new Hong Kong airport, eventually we settled on having routes into both airports.

Le Bourget still has a lot of movements in real life

So why is it a problem in FS?

Not challenging......just curious :think:

The HK situation is different as one replaced the other but in Paris the airports are both current in the real world.

That is correct Garry, two different scenarios not to be compared.

As far as I can find, Le Bourget has no airline service anymore. The terminal is closed and fenced off (it's part of the museum) and about 75% of the rest of the airport is owned by the French Air Force. Also, looking at the charts, the predisposition for flights is southerly, not northerly into the UK, so it appears that most of their operations are coming from places to the E, W, and South of Paris.
