Yo fellow aeronautical-type chaps!!

I've been taking the Viking for a jolly jaunt to far off places and have reached a point where flight times are getting prohibitive. Instead of flying back, I decided to leave the aircraft where it is, get a ticket back to Blighty and continue with the Viking on my next day off. So.. I brought a ticket from Al Massira to LHR last night and was charged v$665 for the privilege

A bit steep I thought but of course, you never know how much you're gonna be charged until the dastardly deed is done. I've had a look at my log this morning noting the ticket prices for each leg of the Vikings trip..
Northolt to Merignac v$101
Merignac to Anglet v$68
Anglet to Gibraltar v$107
Gibraltar to Al Massira v$101
My trusty calculator add's the combined ticket prices up v$377 so WTF did Flynet sting me for v$665 for a one-way back to LHR??? I've got to start flying for England now to be able to afford a ticket back to my stricken Viking :tuttut:

I wish I knew the airline that was charging v$665 for these tickets!! Imagine what a Trident or Vanguard full to the brim would bring in  Think I'll get a type rating on the VC15 and make my own route from LHR (doubt I'd get out of Northolt!) to Al Massira

I was talking with a pilot at a different VA about this subject, but for very short flights. Pilots buying tickets between San Francisco and Oakland only pay 5v$ while passengers on the flights between those citys pay 58v$, so it cuts both ways.

Fair comment Joe but on the strength of that, I should have been charged v$37 not v$377 as my pax had done not v$665 which is close on twice what my pax paid for the same distance  Perhaps I'm subsidising a US based VA!!

Hi,

I brought this issue to Konny's attention earlier thisevening and he has changed the calc as it was an 'old' calc that was being used. He says that it should now give a 'standard fare' as per route calcs. Having said that, Lee now has a problem so the calc may still be 'off'.

Tks John.

I posted on FlyNET just in case anyway. I think Lee's problem is not so much the calc but the fact he can't buy a ticket. Another chap has reported the same so perhaps Konny hit a wrong button along the way

Hi Dave, I don't think you were subsidising a US based VA, in that situation the two airports are only a few miles apart, sitting within sight of each other on opposite sides of the bay.
