Wow! Thanks for posting that, Peter. It really is fascinating. I knew that Mammoths had been discovered in permafrost but I didn't realise that any complete specimens had been recovered. I imagine that this one degraded due to there not being the technology available to preserve it.
It's quite incredible to think that there is a photograph of a prehistoric animal.

I read some where that Siberians had been finding them for years frozen and they had been eating them :shock:

I did a google on mammoths and permafrost but it didn't unearth (ha ha) much more info. I did read however, that there may be as many as ten million frozen mammoths in Siberia. :shock: I suppose as global warming takes hold we're going to be knee dip in rotting mammoth flesh.
I'm sure there must be some Russian entrepreneur who's already thought of a money spinning use for them.

Already seen someone making use of those....Saw an ad on telly only recently where 'Courts' had a Mammoth Sale on....
