Monsoon Season

Just a sequence of screenies from reliving a rather memorable flight I had in 1967. Flew from Changi to Butterworth, nice and sunny in Singapore but in the Monsoon Season things can change quite rapidly.

Storm clouds building up over Penang Island

Just as we were about to touchdown a strong gust of wind lifted the aircraft up and to the left, quite scarey.

The pilot managed to correct everything and get us down with a bit of a thump, but we stayed down.

I don't recall F111's being there way back then, but where they are in that pic was a line of RAAF Sabres. Some of which got sold on to the Malaysian Air Force.

Having fun I see....nice set

That top one reminds me of flying into Soton on a foggy November afternoon in an Air Yuk F.27

The boats in Southampton water through the fog with the long shadows in the low winter sun looked just like that :smile:

There is a lot of atmospher in that shot
