where do you put a/c from fs9 into fsx to see if they work?
I tried installing IRIS Tornado but could find it anywhere? I explored the files etc but couldn't find an aircraft one

cheers

Just put the folder that normally goes in "Aircraft" into "SimObjects>Airplanes" (I still shudder everytime I say that - ugh)

There is a .cfg fix that allows you to put in an "Aircraft" folder as per FS9 but I have some aircraft don't seem to work with this in the "other" folder with silly spelling it seems to work evertime - Including the tonka.

But after they were upgraded to a Starship the frame rates went to hell and no one played them any more.

The Carpenters got upgraded? I thought it was Jefferson Airplane!

I have using the downloaded demo of FSX for a week or so. (I have dropped enough hints what I'd like for Xmas!! - so I thought I could work out some settings in the meantime). I have come across a situation which is way too hard for me to think about, can anyone offer an idea?

The default aircraft display OK so I guess there is hope. But I installed Jens B Kristensen's Avro 10 and Argonaut (which were re-released for FSX) and find some of the textures do not show. The tails and wings have markings but the fuselages and tyres, for example, are white. To add further mystery, when I cycle through the views the full textures are visible for a flash and then disappear. Except in Tower View where the full textures show up perfectly.

I have an old computer, but I installed the latest Nvidia drivers and they did not help. If the default Aircraft were not showing up properly I would say "too bad" and keep saving up, but it only appears to be add-ons.

Can anyone suggest what is going on?

Hi Chockhead

Edit your fsx.cfg to allow an "Aircraft" folder is easiest.

[Main]
User Objects=Airplane, Helicopter
SimObjectPaths.0=SimObjects\Airplanes
SimObjectPaths.1=SimObjects\Rotorcraft
SimObjectPaths.2=SimObjects\GroundVehicles
SimObjectPaths.3=SimObjects\Boats
SimObjectPaths.4=SimObjects\Animals
SimObjectPaths.5=SimObjects\Misc
SimObjectPaths.6=Aircraft

works for me as i have no idea what an Airplane is :dunno:

Regards
Rick :wink:

Totally off topic but following on from:

In the UK that is being played in one of the TV adverts - can't remember which one so that was worthwhile for them. Just looked it up and it is the Boots No 7 cosmetics advert :dunno:

But a h/u for the youngsters here who didn't know what it was. :roll:
