Help needed for 1-11 510ED Autopilot

Can anyone post a decent photo of the Autopilot unit from a 1-11 510ED?
Or can you tell me exactly what is written around the row of switches, from left to right.
The BEA/BA fitted unit is similar in function to the Trident A/P, but I can't work it all out.
I dug out my old work PC & found the 510ED panel I'd started making, so I'm trying to complete it.
I always thought it was a superb dogs dinner of a panel, but have only just discovered the best bit.
Most of the overhead switches on the 510ED go in the opposite direction to the current model (which I assume was the standard fit).
ie. switch down is normally ON, but that same switch would be OFF on the 510ED.
I can only assume that BEA insisted that the switches be changed to work the 'correct' way.
No wonder 510ED pilots weren't allowed to just jump in any other 1-11 & vice versa. The thing is a death trap.
Could be fun if I can get it made.

I'll dig my BA tech logs out DM. Not sure what sort of detail it might have for the AP though. Worth a look all the same

We're the Supers to the same spec?? If so, PeterM might know
EDIT.. Sri DM.. none of the books I have contain detail on the 510ED AP

Ah well, thanks for looking.
I can guess a fair bit of it, but there are too many question marks.
Going from left to right:-
1) Speed - IAS ? / Throt
2) Speed - Engage ?
3) Az Master On (NAV/HDG engage selected by the sense switch on Compass)
4) Yaw damper ?
5) ? / Glide Gearing
6) ? / Man
7) F/Dir On

Height - Aquire ? / Lock
9) Height - Engage ?
Anyone got any ideas?

I was about to say if you could hang on, I could get you a detail shot of the A/P in G-AVMJ but having checked, someone has subsituted the more usual A/P in it

East Fortune or Duxford probably your best bet. Failing that have you tried asking Peter from
http://www.bac1-11jet.co.uk ?

indeed.
Peter at bac1-11jet - That's an idea.
I'll try him if nothing turns up here.
Thanks Toby

Would the 1-11 at the Bournmouth Aviation Musuem be any good? It's a 530 series.
I could go there tommorrow if you like.

The 510 was unique.......built to BEA standards so they are different from all other One-Elevens in a big way, so a 530 will be no good for what DM wants.

I don't think BEA could make their minds up; Viscount 701/802/806 were always down for ON and up/cen OFF, unlike all the other Viscounts which were the reverse. The Vanguard was the opposite with the switches up for ON

Daft things like that fascinate me.
Whatever was decided, I'd have thought it sensible to have the switches operate the same direction on the main, pedestal & overhead panels.
I mean, the text is always written the same way up isn't it?
It seems really dangerous having subtle differences like this on such similar aircraft.
As far as I know, the BA 1-11 pilots could fly any mark in the fleet so long as they'd done the relevant course (I don't think many did though)
I can imagine it being difficult to not make a few mistakes if we're flying a 1-11 with a backwards panel today.

David,
Got your email and busy thinking about it...Taxing the memory a bit as I flew the Merchantman and then the Tridents AFTER I flew the S111...So that puts my last flight of the S111 back in June 1973 with 10 years of Trident flying to dim the S111 in my mind.
DB...If it is possible to get a scan of the bit of the manual concerned with using the Autopilot, it might just bring it all back to the forefront
