Out on Avsim today.

AFG's YS-11 has always been one of my favorite commuter turboprops.

Great to fly, excellent sounds and very immersive.

2D and VC cockpits.

And it's freeware!

Update includes:

* The wing/fuselage fairing has been completely redone and properly integrated into the fuselage
* Landing gear wheels now have 3D wheel hubs
* The cockpit in the exterior view has been textured
* The virtual cockpit gauge update rate has been significantly improved
* Main instrument panel has gauge night lighting added (VC mode)
* H.P.C. levers, the Low Stop lever and the IIS mode selector in VC are now operable with mouse
* Glare shield panel has working prop indicator lights, overheat lights and feather/unfeather buttons in the VC mode
* Completely new flap lever in VC (also mouse operable)
* Added rain effects to the virtual cockpit windows
* In VC mode, yokes can be toggled on/off to gain better view of the instruments
* Light switches and engine start switches can be operated from VC mode
* Prop blade feathering animation has been added
* Shut down aircraft has air intake covers, wheel chocks and streamers visible
* Pre-defined wing views with photoreal window bitmap (2D panel mode only).

Nice to have the old girl back in my hangar again. Makes a nice contrast to Ricks 748.

Sorry to appear dense - what is the main differences between the YS-11 and the HS748? (I was under the impression the former was just a HS748 built under licence with minor mods for the Oriental market?)

The NAMC has nothing to do with the 748

It is a different size and looks nothing like a 748

If you search out the types on the net you will see there is no similarity whatsoever apart from the way the airframe is laid out.

And the engine type, and the wing design! I know what you mean Garry, but I've always thought the YS-11 looked like a 748 on steroids. :dunno:

Nice to have this update, difficult to believe they could improve on what they already had. Still, Rick's 748 is much prettier, and I'm sure the 780 will be prettier still!
