Hello all, I'm hoping someone can guide me in improving the quality & settings for my FS2004.
I've read on here in the past about playing around with settings and have tried allsorts.
I have now reset all defaults. Currently set at 800x600

I'm running an XP2400, 512 ram & 128mb radion 9200. do I need a better card ?

Not sure about the card, but I would certainly suggest adding more RAM.

TBH it's not easy to tell from that shot

As Andy says more RAM would help[

There are settings that can make the best of what you have but it would be better to start with a daylight shot.

Hi 4JSTU,

I run an old XP2400 on a daily basis even though I have a more powerful machine that sits unused!! The CPU will run FS9 just fine though as has been mentioned, a bit more ram would help. I run 1gb of DDR400 and an ATI 9700pro 128mb at 1152x864 32bit.. all old stuff but totally acceptable so look at getting another 512stick and binning the Radion 9200. I don't know much about that particular card but my guess is it's underpowered for the likes of FS9. The cost of memory is pretty good and AGP cards can be had for a song though the better ones seem to be getting more difficult to get hold of. 800x600 is never going to look good on anything but a 15" monitor and a better graphics card and a bit more ram will help speed things along and at a higher res

Hi 4JSTU,

As Dave says that resolution is a bit low

On thing that sprongs to mid straight away is the jagged edges.

Is Ant-Alias turned on?

Best to have that on in the game and the video card set to aplication controlled.

Thanks for the replies,
I've gone back to 800x600 purely as it's back to default setting, but I only have a 15" monitor and switching between the 800 res or 1024 res makes no difference.
I've set the anti-alias on and check my card settings for application preference. Again see no difference.

So is this the best I'm going to see with my current set-up ?

I always thought it was better to set the AA/AF settings on the card rather than in-game?

The advice is usually application controlled...with the particular card I'm using I find it better on the card whereas before it was better on FS , but the application seems to be the start point.

I doesn't look like AA's on.

Perhaps then 4JSTU you might like to turn it off in FS and select it on the card.

Can't thank you guys enough, sorted, and all in the space of a few hours.
It's not only the jagged edges on the aircraft I was seeing, it effected scenery too, panels, cockpit views, etc, etc.
Everything is now much better, thank you.
