Classic British Flight Sim

I've just given a demo of FS to a friend who has never seen it before. He's now very enthusiastic about me loading it on to his PC. Unfortunately he isn't knowledgeable about aviation so he will be learning from scratch. I can show him how to use the flying lessons in the default Cessna but I find the Cessna very sensitive and difficult to fly. I'd like to give him something with a bit of quality to get the feel of it :think:

So I'm looking for suggestions for good quality freeware basic trainers. First on my list would be Rick's Chippie and Provost. What do you think? What else is there that might be suitable?

Any comments or suggestions would be very welcome.

I reckon your'e pretty good there with Ricks two.

Much as real world, with the Chippy and JP.

Later on The Rapide and Dove would be good to start route flying as they both handle well before progressing maybe to the 748 which also handles very well.

Default Piper Cub (I have only ever flown it about twice) seemed to be pretty easy to fly and robust. I'd guess though that its easier to learn in a nosewheel aircraft than it is in a taildragger though really... especially when it comes to braking

Why don't you go straight at the VC10? An angel to fly!

Thanks for your thoughts so far, Gents. Although the Chippie would be perfect in the air, Toby makes a valid point about taildraggers and landing. I might have a fiddle about with the config file of the Cessna and see if I can calm it down a bit :roll: . Unless anyone knows of an alternative freeware Cessna. (I don't know why I'm asking you lot - what interest have you got in Cessnas? )

Dan - I couldn't possibly reveal to him how easy the VC10 is to fly! At the moment he thinks my landings are down to skill and experience. I'll hang on to that kudos as long as possible!

That was how I introduced myself to FS, went rather well I think, but apparently I'm kinda stuck there......

You've progressed

You would have started out on"A" and you have got as far as "K"

And you are type rated on Early, Golden Speedbird and BA...once you finished your current course on "Intrim" you will be fully qualified
