We had some heavy rain today at McLeland Field and I took a few shots of the resulting standing water and spray...

Peter..
For someone who's roots are very much steeped in aviation, you seem to be getting closer to someone with a Naval background as you get older
Interesting shots.. FSX I presume??

Yes, it's Beta3...but only the rain, cause most of what you see there is McLeland Field...Been busy carving out chunks of mountain today...When I built this base in FS9 I chose a flat place. Now with FSX the ground has risen up and engulfed a lot of my scenery. I've got it all out in the clear now but will push the mountain back some more on the approaches

Thanks Dave...It is just that the Mesh Data gets more accurate with each issue of FS and the terrain gets closer to reality. Unfortunately Google Earth is not too high res in the area of McLeland Field, but I'm confident from maps that the latest default mesh is pretty spot on. I would not have been able to build my base here in FSX but I'm doing well at shifting mountains a little bit and I'm using a method that will keep them shifted in other meshes

Perhaps the oil companies have been excavating large tracts of Alaska and dumping removed material where McLeland field would in theory exist
