Well at least the pilots are ok. Its always a shame when a "warbird" meets its end in such a way.

Isn't that where the services are going to be???

Glad they got out, sounds like a biggie too.

Pleased to here of no fatalities, on reading that report they were both extremely lucky to be able to walk from the wreckage!!

Robin..

No mate.. Royston is the other side (western side) and my understanding is that the proposed service area is on the eastern side of the M11 (could be wrong though).

The T-33 was parked out on the ramp on Sunday and I expected it to display with the F86a though it didn't (wasn't scheduled to either). Glad the crew managed to get out safely

If the services were to be built, and if there were to be an accident in which an aircraft crashed into said services, one cant help but think that the consensus of many people would be; "what a silly place for an airfield" rather than "what a silly place to have built services"

As I have said before, I cant see any need to have services there, there are plenty of much longer stretches of Motorway (the M25 is a prime example) where theres a much greater need and no services. Nearest ones to Duxford are at Bishop's Stortford (opposite STN) which is about 10 or 12 miles away (given that I have recently driven from Bishop's S to Cambridge, the whole journey is about 25 miles and Duxford seemed to be about halfway between the two places). Anyways... getting a bit O/T :-#
