Absolutely tragic. I always found myself drawn to the man for his boundless enthusiasm for the subject, and I loved his TV shows. The man educated millions of people across the globe and opened their eyes to conservation issues regarding species that most people consider "nasty" and wouldn't normally give a second glance to.

Thats very sad news.

I was watching one of his "Crododile Hunter Diaries" programmes yesterday.

His unique & fun approach to wildlife & the preservation of endangered species made him a world reknowned figure in the care of (Australian) animals.

My condolences to his wife Terry & children Bindy & Bob & all at Australia Zoo.

It is still reported that his wife, Terri, is not aware of his death as she is Trekking in Tasmania and can't be contacted.

So sad, he was one of the few who would dare to handle crocks in the way he did and pass off any near miss with a shrug of his shoulders and a phew!!

Australia has lost a great man.
