While we are reminiscing about Airfix, anybody remember Spot On large scale cars & lorry's (I won't used the US term trucks) made by Triang?

I remember Spot on
I don't think it had anything to do with Triang
Lines Brothers were the group, Pedigree prams, FROG, Triang, Hornby, Minic...trying to remember, this would be I think 1969,70 ish
Lines Bros went bust and it became Rovex Triang but not everything continued. I only remember FROG and Hornby coming out of that as such..but a lot of Minic ships (not the liners) turned up in the mid-late seventies in Minic boxes without any reference to others in the group so that may have carried on elsewhere.
The French Factory passed to Heller and eventually Airfix when Heller took them over.

My recollections of Spot-On are that they were a 'lower end' competitor to Corgi in the die-cast market.. Matchbox, at that time, being masters of the smaller scale models. They had some unusual cars/lorries not covered by Corgi but Corgi was always the 'one to have' if given the option
I used to love the little sheets of sticky-back tax discs/number plates you could get!!

Oh happy days

HI Dave
Do you remember the sticky back spokes to put on the sports cars wheels.
I well remember when interiors and opening doors came to the fore.
All my early ones were empty shell with no windows, a bit like the cars on some of the estates.
Solid tyres as well.
But I myself hardly ever bought cars......that was my brother.
If I bought a Dinky it was a Viscount which I used to paint in Red Square and play with until the bottom fell off  after the props and wheels were long gone.

Time to go to town and get another one.
Garry.

Anyone remember Lesney ? They were small cars, like Matchbox ones.

Dinky Anyone - my brothers and I had an incredible collection of military
vehicles including the most detailed Centurion and a rather odd WAC-Corporal Rocket that had a carrier with a split cab

Paul
Lesney and Matchbox were one and the same.
