well I like the old propliners, so after downloading the dh-91 I decided to try something a little later. I found this beauty. the Canadair C-4 Argonaut. it is basicly a dc4 that has been re-engined with 4 merlins that produce 1350 hp standerd with up to 1650 at takeoff. I have flown dc4's before in fs and this thing is hot, if the p and w radials are a truck engine, the merlines are a le-mans racing engine. this thing has a celing of 29500 feet, that is jet territory, and on the flight I am doing I am crusing at 22k at 258 knots ground speed... the file is argo_v10.zip from avsim and it comes in 2 boac and a british midland liverly, I got the great lancaster sound set and it is definatly a different experence from the radial propliners that I usually fly, all in all a nice job for a modest sized download...

That's the one by Jens B. Kristensen, I have used it before and its very good. He release a DC-4 as part of the same series and its excellent as well.

I flew as a passenger once in one of those, from Khormaksar to Nairobi. I can't remember the name of the airline but I think they called the aircraft a DC4b or was it 6b...certainly sounded nice and I seem to remember spending a lot of time trying out my new camera on the rather pretty stewardess
I also visited the flight deck briefly and the crew were obviously very pleased with their Merlins.

Hi Peter
Did they by any chance call it a DC 4M?
Was it a British Airline?

I recall as an 11 year old flying from Khormaksar to Mombasa on an Aden Airways Argonaut. It had a wonderful engine sound, and the livery was very much like BOAC's

These were BOAC associates which accounts for the BOAC ttype livery and the operation of the actual aircraft in the first place.

Hi Leif
There were quite a number of airlines all around the Globe that used BOAC based livery
But the assumption here is it was an EAA C-4
It could have been Air Links, Derby/BMA or Overseas that at times operated the type down through Africa, sometimes on lease to BOAC but not in BOAC livery which is why I asked if it was British and did they all it a DC 4M.
Overseas had some DC4M2 where as the 'Argonaut' was a Canadair Four, Overseas had C-4's as well.
Only CPA and BOAC bought Canadair Fours the RCAF and TCA were either DC4 M1 or DC4M2
