Classic British Flight Sim

hey I just downloaded this model again, (I had it before but my computer crashed and burned) and even though it is not very detailed visualy (well panel, the outside is nice,) it is a great looking and performing aircraft, here is the filename if anybody wants to look it up in avsim. dh91_v1.zip. it is amazing how sleek it looks next to the dc3 which it is contemorary with, what I wanted to know is if any of there planes still exist, or even still flying, and was wondering if it would make a good british made substitute for the dc3 for your VA. anyway back to flying, I am taking it between lousiville and winipeg manatoba at 10k and right now the turbulence is shaking us like a salt shaker, hope there are plenty of airsickness bags in the back... :sicky:

As far as I am aware the DH.91 as a type did not survive WW.II

According to one source, a total of seven aircraft were built in 1938-1939. The last DH.91 were scrapped in 1943.

Of the 7 airframes produced (6800-6806), G-AEVV crashed at Reykjavik 11.8.41, G-AEVW crashed (again at Reykjavik) 7.4.42, G-AFDI was destroyed by enemy action at Whitchurch 20.12.40, G-AFDJ was scrapped 9.43 (lack of spares), G-AFDK crashed near Shannon 6.7.43, G-AFDL crashed at Pucklechurch 6.10.40 and finally.. G-AFDM was scrapped 9.43 (lack of spares). Although a graceful looking aircraft, the DH91 was certainly not one of De Havillands success stories :roll:

Although it looked good for the time in was not a lot of used as the fuse tapered to a very narrow tail.

So it would never have had the capacity for it's size. :sad:

There was a weakness in the fuse as well causing one to snap on landing. :redface: It was repaired very quickly

Being built of wood would also limited it's life and usefulness.

ouch, I didn't know it was made of wood, but then so was the mosito (sp ) another plane that I am gona try to find on avsim, is the merlin engined variant of the dc4, I forget what it is called but I know there is one uploaded there from what I have read it could fly circles around the dc4 ( well in a sense, it was faster and could fly highter)

edit: ahh found it the Canadair C-4 Argonaut argo_v10.zip cool now to find some good sounds....
