G-ASGK repaint request

Hi all

recently David Maltby was so kind to help me out with a slight modification on the VC10 so I'm able to fly G-ASGK in its right clothing. (The BOAC gold-livery).

After a fulfilling description from Jelle, where I asked him which liveries G-ASGK might has worn hr told me (and I quote):

G-ASGK was probably delivered in the BOAC 'golden' scheme, but there were two versions of this, one with a step in the blue cheatline and the other with the cheatline flowing smoothly down to the nose. The second version didn't have the gold trim on the cheatline. I'm not quite sure right now which version came earlier. Before that there was the BOAC scheme with the two white bands on the tail but only the first Supers ever wore that scheme as it was changed soon after they entered service. I don't think 'GK would have been one of them.

With the change to BA a number of hybrid schemes emerged as the need to get the new name out was pressing, but the queue for the paintshop long. To start with the new name 'British Airways' was painted over the cheatline instead of BOAC. Then some aircraft received a repainted 'Union Jack' tail but kept the BOAC colours on the fuselage. In the end all aircraft ended up in the full BA scheme. For examples of this and one of the BOAC schemes have a look on these pages:
http://www.vc10.net/Photos/BAvc10s.html
http://www.vc10.net/Photos/MoreBAvc10s.html
There is a photo of the other BOAC variant(s) on this page: http://www.vc10.net/History/historyBOAC.html
After the sale to the RAF the aircraft were stored, photos of this are here: http://www.vc10.net/Photos/vc10s_in_storage.html
You can see that the BA titles were removed, and RAF serials were added to the fuselages for identification. After spares reclamation the aircraft was then scrapped

Now, it would be of great pleasure to me, if anyone would do me the favour of repainting the VC10 in those mentioned liveries including the right registration. (The RAF-version was ZD239).

Hi Dan

I don't recall any Super in the stepped livery if there were GK would have been far too late.

The livery didn't last long

No Supers were delvered in the early two whit band livery. On;y SGA was like that then it was modified to Vickers Super VC 10 titles during test.

Not all the BA intrims variations were worn by all the aircraft

I thought so Garry, but wasn't sure....I've seen GK in the Golden (not stepped) and in the transition livery, and hence DM have already provided me with the Golden, the BA/BOAC version and the RAF version is really the ones I call for.

Thanks for the prompt reaction.

Sorry, that was a pure BA livery....

Guess I can't find an interim version...but presumably there must (may) have been one...? :dunno:

Any way, both liveries are part of DM's package, so the repaint must be quite minor (only a registration change) Same goes for the RAF-version?...

:dunno:

I'm not into this repainting-business, so I don't know the amount of work that has to be carried out...

OK Dan

Are you saying you need registration changes only on the RAF, BOAC and BA liveries as they stand now?

I've got the golden from DM

I "need" it for the BA, the BA/BOAC (if it was ever, but presumably) and the RAF...

OK I can make those slight changes for you using the standing paint.
