Classic British Flight Sim

Today, G-BBDG was officially opened to the public at Brooklands by HRH Prince Michael of Kent. Whilst I didnt take any pics of the actual ceremony (or of the inside of the aircraft which is quite interesting in the way it is now presented), I did take these before the proceedings commenced:

What do the punters do? Climb up one side, and slide down the other???

Looks like it Andy........... but at least they keep you nice and dry..take you money then push you out in the rain

Toby...has she got the titles or by some miracle of angle are they hidden by the steps?

Didn't go today in the end so no shots from here. My dad's need to have a 60ft hedge beheaded by 2ft was more important than me seeing Prince Michael (or Toby). Concorde will be there for years.. my dad will not

The (Landor) steps on the left up to the service door on the stbd side of the a/c were there only to act as a place for the museum director, the BA representative and HRH to give their speeches before the ribbon cutting. The entrance is the rear cargo door on the same side.

There are titles and yes I managed to obscure them with the steps in all shots

I quite agree with the comment about your Dad, Dave. Mine's 91 and still active, but if he want something done nothing else has a higher priority. Mind you, can he really discern the difference between a 60 foot hedge and a 58 foot hedge? Perhaps taking 2 foot off the bottom might have a greater impact

Reminds me of the joke about the Irish truck driver whos parked next to a low bridge his truck wont fit under. Someone suggests to him that he should let the tyres down so it will fit under and he replies "But ta truck is too tall at ta top, not at ta bottom, to be sure"

It still is 60ft long (nothing taken off the ends or the bottom!!) but by lopping 2ft or so off the top, he can now manage to keep it in check. He's 79 next time round, ex Merchant Navy, suffers terribly with arthritis, a nagging wife who is doing her very best to become wheelchair-bound and as if this were'nt enough, he has cancer of the bladder too! :sad: Unfortunately.. he is running out of airframe hours with no spares and no more pages in the log so yup.. if he needs anything doing (and he won't ask.. I have to force the issue).. I have no compulsion but to do what I can

I still have to get that publication back to Brooklands but they know where it is and another week won't matter
