Wow, thats a bit of a bolt from the blue. Last I heard (from a reliable source) was that WFD was closing in 2010. Maybe this will keep them busy a hwile longer. Think I'm right in saying that Chadderton is gone now so I guess the whole lot will be fabricated at WFD. I wonder what R E Bishop would have said if someone had told him they'd still be making Comets into hte 21st Century?

Toby, Chadderton is now an industrial park. I drove past it a couple of days ago.

Am I reading it correctly? It implies that they are new-build Nimrods that are expected to have a 30 year service life!

Would be nice, wouldn't it?

It's just the media can't read a press release, then release it without getting it wrong. How difficult is it?

My Nephew Mike
Who has been on the RAF acceptance team at Warton seems to think that
the Nimrod 4 will outlive his career in RAF lol - He actually likes the ugly bugger

I like her as well.
OK, you can't compare her to a glaceful airliner, but she shed that skin a long time ago. As a military machine, she looks the part.

I'll second that, something almost mean looking about her.
