Sort-of route info request..

Hi Guy's

An odd title for a post but I suppose it's a pretty odd request! While we're somewhat limited to any expansion of the VA jet fleet, there is still room to manouevre with our props. It is not really appropriate at this point to open up Pandora's Box and include (for the jets that is) British company, foreign made aircraft (eg.. BOAC/BA 707's e t c) but.. we have an old but infinately useable Viking and from outside.. the FSBerlin Ambassador that could be included.

SOME info is available for the Viking in the form of RAS but more would be required.. likewise, for the Ambassador. If anyone has a nest waiting to be plundered (of info).. plonk it on here and I'll see if the prop boys can't have a little more variation

I think that any aircraft operated by BOAC is game to be added to the CBFS VA. As such the connie, B377 and B707 should be added at some point.

David/Joe..

I appreciate your comments, the content of which have already been discussed privately if not in public. However.. CBFS is as much about the aircraft as it is the airlines, moreso probably so while I wouldn't rule out the inclusion of the Connie and 707 at some point in the future.. neither will make an appearance soon.
We already have an 'In house' Viking which can be used and the Ambassador, produced by our German friends, already has a number of great liveries available and is of a sufficiently high quality to warrant it's inclusion. While not 'In house' it is a Classic Brit in every sense of the word  There is no doubting the fact that both the Connie and 707 are 'Classics' but they only fulfill 50% of our requirement here. I know that seems a little unfair, especially as both aircraft have great Fsim freeware versions. We'll see but we're just not ready yet

Anyway.. Viking and Ambassador routes por favor

Hi Dave,

From the earliest discussions of the VA's mission it was discussed as British aircraft or used by British airlines. Note that since the VA transitioned into the CBFS VA we have already added DC-3's to the fleet.
If you look at the purpose of this as reviving the history of British civil aviation I can't see how they can be ignored.

As for the B707, it was mentioned in the earliest discussions of the VA as a candidate for inclusion and there are lots of interesting 707 routes to places the VC10 did not fly to.

Now I am not pushing for it or any of the other foreign manufactured AC to be added at this time as there are still a number of British aircraft still to add and we would need to see how many if our pilots want to fly them.

Hi Joe et al,

There are quite a few non-British aircraft that could be included in the VA as well as quite a few more British ones. Each will have to be considered on it's own merits.

I don't mind anyone suggesting aircraft for inclusion on the fleet and due thought/discussion will be given by myself and my 'advisors'. Although I am 'CEO' or whatever anyone wants to call the position, fleet additions will be carefully considered and only included after due consultation and approval from 'The Ministry' and their respected 'consultants. I would not argue with their final decision as equally I hope no-one else would. Regarding the Boeings they will be low down on the list of potentials at the moment as there are far more suitable candidates that are ahead of them. The DC-3's are steeped in British aviation history and that is the only non-British addition to the fleet at this time.

We have a good and varied fleet at the moment and the next possible inclusions are the Viking and Ambassador. We will not be rushing to get these though as we still have routes to finalise for some of the existing fleet aircraft.

The B777 and F100's will be disposed of as soon as we can find buyers for them as I really don't want to lease them. If worse comes to worse I will scrap them but we only get one-third of the value so that will be a last resort.

Rgds
