Dyce Dycey??

Hi Guys,

Just had a look on the Flight Monitor after landing at Dyce and its great to see that 6 of the 7 current flights are ours!!

This brings me to a problem.. not with you lot flying but with Dyce. Has anyone had any probs there?? My current Dyce is part of Scotflight scenery (can't recall having been here for yonks.. perhaps since Scotflight was installed!!). I had a look there this evening and loaded up the 748 to find a suitable parking/starting area. After Yawing about for a few secs.. I found what looked like a suitable place to make my own.. hit the Y button and shortly afterwards got a black screen followed by 'an error has occurred in M$ Flight simulator e t c' :curse: I knew it wasn't the 748 and the search at Dyce had been started in the default Cessna.

Having landed there a few moments ago in the Dove.. I went to a parking area a hundred yards or so away from where I'd looked earlier (on the taxyway to the Bristow hangars) and parked up. Got the Bing Bong after applying the brakes.. reduced Fsim and ended the flight on the client. Hit the windows button again and nada.. lots of HD activity.. a black screen.. followed by 'An error has occurred in M$ e t c' :dunno:

Having made my way here in the Dove via Liverpool and Glasgow chasing the routes from Manchester, I don't want to have to abandon the place and make my way back again. However, I don't want to risk losing any flights here either :k: Any ideas??

dave sounds like the gremlins have got to you now. i have been flying in and out of dyce since the start of cbfs. i have only the default scenery so no problems. BUT in the last week i've had fs9 crash on my four time's. once as i was 20ft off the ground about to land after a 2.5hr flight. :crying: then again out of dyce heading for sumborough.
my last fault came up with ati2video. after reloading and repairing microsoft. net and then latest driver for windowxp media center edition did it start to work. i would disable dyce and use the default. it might not have all the bells and whistles but it is ok. also all the parking spots work.
also john also told me to change the cofg in flynet, that might have helped.

Hi David,

Rgr that. I've had probs with previous incarnations of Dyce before (the infamous missing trees would halt fsim as I flew into or out of it) but I can't recall having had a prob with it as part of the Scotflight load  I'll have a look and see if I can pull the Scotflight Dyce out

[edit]
David (et-al).. I eventually found Scotflight residing on a different HD and was able to recognise all (I think) of the Dyce/Aberdeen bgl's so pulled them to a new directory, restarted Fsim to let it rebuild the database then quit and started up again. Having spent a good 10mins whizzing around in my little Cicare CH-7 (for those in the market for a single-seat helo.. I recommend this one - available at Allnodes).. reducing Fsim and going back into it again.. all appears well.. except of course for the default Dyce which is pony!! :huf: No probs encountered so whatever it is lives in the Scotflight Dyce somewhere  Not an ideal situation but at least the other Scotflight airfields/scenery is intact so job done

Being based in the heart of the Highlands am using Scotflight day in, day out and pay regular visits to Dyce.

So reading of your experiences, grabbed a 748 and flew EGPE > EGPD, on arrival went direct to gate13 - no problems.

I assume you are refering to gates 10 - 14, heading towards the Bristow's hangers, as per Scotflight scenery.

Slewed around this area, investigated all gates and parking slots - no problems.
Switched aircraft to the Dove - still no probems.

So what could be different...

I am using AF2_EGPD by John Hinson ( scflafd1.zip from Avsim with his additional file for ai scfafd1a.zip ), other AF2's miss out gate10 and gate14 for some reason.

I am not flying on FlyNET.

Not sure if either of the above could be causing your CDT, but I have never experienced any problems with Scotflight/Dyce.

Regards
John

You have a point there Garry  de-de-de-de, de-de-de-de

John (RAFP).. thanks for trying it out  This particular load of Flightsim is rather long in the tooth mate so being overweight may lie at the heart of the problem. That said.. I don't get CTD's so was rather surprised to get a couple in quick succession
Scotflight's 'Scotland' is the only scenery I have installed up in that part of the world other than Steve Anderson's Lossie (Lago Tornado flavour) so it's difficult to tell what it might be. A friend of mine once had problems even flying toward Scotland when he had Scotflight loaded so he took the lot off  I've been in and out of East Fortune gallons of times and also Jura and a brace of airfields in that area and all without problems. In fact, the only two other airports I've had the odd error at up in Scotland have both been by the same chap.. his Edinburgh and Glasgow though that was in the dark days of FS2002. Edinburgh seems fine in 2004 but I've not tried his Glasgow yet

I note that you have extracted the Aberdeen/Dyce elements from your Scotflight scenery which was on a separate drive.

Like yourself I have all addon scenery in a separate partition of HD to that of the main FS9 - exept for Scotflight - it is the only addon scenery that I run from within my main FS9 folder. As mentioned in my previous post have been running Scotflight like this without having ever encountered any problems.

Also worth mentioning that the Scotflight Aberdeen/Dyce airport scenery has an assosciated landclass, there are a couple of .bgl's required for Aberdeen/Dyce to run properly- DYCE_LC_0 AND DYCE_LC_1

FYI in FS9 I have my settings as :-
Settings - Scenery library
[1] UK Mesh (Lago)
[2] ScotflightLandClass
[3] Scotflight

[4-->]..other sceneries

hope you get Aberdeen working - would hate for you to miss out on any part of God's own country - Bonnie Scotland.

Regards
John

ps Iain Gallacher's freeware Edinburgh, Glasgow and Prestwick have all been updated for FS9, you can get them - here
... and they work fine for me.

Hiya John,

Many tks for taking the time and effort to post that info

IG's scenery is without doubt the only scenery to get for north of the border and I surely wouldn't consider getting rid of it all because of the probs I've had at Dyce. Why Scotflight is installed on C drive and not D drive I don't really know. It's been there so long now I can't actually remember if I had an option or not. The file structure is such that the Scotflight folder could be moved directly into 'addon scenery' (for example) and it should work. I can't afford for it to f-up while flying online but I will make the effort to try and resolve the problem.

I'm pretty sure that Edinburgh is part of Scotflight although I couldn't say if this includes the airport. Obviously, Glasgow is not as I have the abysmal M$ default rubbish. Good on frames but little else
