Hi Guys,

Freshly refurbished BAC1-11 400 G-AXBB is ready for departure from New York. The aircraft is bound for Birmingham, UK.

Routing New York - Goose Bay - Keflavik - Birmingham

CBF1498

0800 KJFK - CYYR 1035
1230 CYYR - BIKF 1600
1700 BIKF - EGBB 1940

Fuel prices : KJFK=1.35, CYYR=1.11, BIKF=1.19

In another thread discussing range/power settings, the following advice was given for those that wish to have some rough guidelines :-
cstorey wrote:In real life manchester -rodos was just about possible in a -400,if winds were nothing out of the ordinary but it is absolutely vital to get FL350 or you will not make it. bear in mind that in reality you could were not permitted to go above this because of no drop down oxygen. So econ techniques are necessary - no faffing round terminal areas ; careful monitoring of the balance between climb rate and fuel consumption, and a long range cruise rather lower than normal i.e. about Mach 0.71 or just over 420kts TAS, together with maintaining cruise level to the last possible minute

Chris
To avoid more than one pilot buying a ticket to KJFK, post below JUST BEFORE you intend to depart for KJFK to commence the flight. There are more aircraft currently being re-furbished so this will not be the last flight.

Well, I'm thinking of holding this 1-11 in Goose Bay for ransom.
It cost me $1500 to get over to JFK, then the client program mugged me for another $1200 (had to cancel to get it going again after an FS crash)
Just landed at Goose - Pilot Income $78 & no expenses!

I could have taken a job at EasyJet you know!

Your an Ejit DM.... if FS crashes, you don't cancel the flight... just log out from flynet... give it a few minutes and log back in. If the flynet client looses contectivity with FS, it resets the flight back to the start location. :poke:

Dave, you purchased 9500kg of expensive fuel but used less than 6000kg. Hopefully you will make it up on the next leg, since you start with 3558 kg in the tanks.

What a bummer DM,

When you think about it, that's like charging addmission to Barns Wallace to watch the film of the bouncing bomb test drop.!!

Ah come on now Ben, surely they don't let you do that.
What if you run out of fuel at 25,000ft, you could just jump out and kill the FS program!
BTW a technique that comes in handy for anyone else trying to get a brand new VC10 from Heathrow to Manchester! :worried:
Take warning, the VC10 starts losing engines with about 2500 kg of fuel still on board, so don't skimp on the fuel load for a short hop!!
On previous occasions (one genuine, one not) an FS crash has indeed set the flight back to booked status, no questions asked.

This time there was a cock up with fuelling the 1-11 and I ended up with less fuel that I really wanted, so I jumped out, crashed FS & waited. And waited...
After a while I thought it had maybe caught me out trying to 'cheat' this time. Probably not, but time was pressing.
The flight document suggested that I could only have about 7000 kg of fuel to make MTOW, when I could have squeezed on about 11000.

Didn't want to spend that much on fuel at JFK cause it is pricey. Extra fuel bought because I was expecting a head wind that ended up not being there.

One does know what one's doing.
(watch me get lost on the next leg now )
And it's only Virtual Dollars. I've still got enough VD to go around so I will bring AXBB back to Blighty.

As john knows, I had 4% fuel left in each tank on the VC10 last week and lost all 4 engines coming into Heathrow.

Fortunately I was only 600 feet off the deck and manged a pitter patter landing... flynets critique... A perfect flight! If only they knew!

 Yep 4% was what I had too.
It's a nasty trick for the EGLL-EGCC route, you actually need about 5500 kg of fuel for 130 nm!

Had to have a day off poorly yesterday, but AXBB has now been delivered safe & sound to Brum. :heaven:
