Recreated the last flight of Dan-Air Comet 4C G-BDIX from Lasham to its permanent home at East Fortune. Enjoy

Waiting at rwy9 at Lasham. (Actually its IT and not IX but what's one letter, its nearly right  ) Oops! I forgot to reset the altimeter before I took this shot.

Off we go! Gear up. I also forgot just how noisy the engines were. It shook the whole room

Just love the smoke effects.

Turning heading northwards.

Dave Maltby has done wonders with this plane. I just love the profile.

Crossing the border now.

Descending as we approach Edinburgh.

Edinburgh Airport to the right of pic and also the Forth Bridges in the distance.

Nice shot of the bridges.

Approaching rwy11 at East Fortune.

Rwy11 in sight gear and flaps down.

Touchdown and stop at G-BDIX's new home.

I've just looked up that the CoA expiry date for that Comet was 11/10/81. I wonder if that was the actual date of that final flight you re-created there, Gordon?

Running those until 1981, I can see why they were called Dan Dare Scareways. To the average holidaymaker, seeing that on the stand, perhaps adjacent to a nice shiny new B737-200, it probably looked just a little bit primative  . Of course now though, if say Air Atlantique were offering flights in one, we'd all be warming up our credit cards. Strange world. :madhead:

Hi Chris, according to info on the museum website its final flight was September 81, didn't give an exact date though.
