How to place an static aircraft....

Hi

I'm in need of placing an static aircraft at EKCH.

Tony did a paint job for me, on one of the HJG DC-8's

Now I want to use the same aircraft, not only to fly, but to place it as an static aircraft.

Any ideas on how to place it there?

Thanks in advance.

Hi Dan,

The simplest way to do this is to use Traffic Tools to generate a flightplan where the aircraft only flies a local circuit, twice a week, between (say) 02.00 and 02.15 local. Designate a unique parking spot for it, so that it will always use the same spot and it will always be there - unless you cheat and turn up at 02:05 on a Tuesday, of course :lol: .

This is a lot simpler than turning the aircraft into a true scenery object: in effect, you have "fixed AI".

Cheers,

Kevin

OK, Airboatr, what is it you want to know? I assume you know how to use TTools, so you just create a flightplan with a single line such as:

AC#999,WF203,20%,WEEK,VFR,1/02:08:51,1/02:23:51,020,F,9999,EGDL,2/02:09:44,2/02:24:44,020,F,9999,EGDL

This is for a Varsity on the RAF Lyneham firedump.

In the 'aircraft' TTools file you put something like:

AC#999,160,"AI Varsity Firedump"

with, obviously, an 'airport' file including EGDL.

Then you designate an AI aircraft, with (in the a/c.cfg file)

title=AI Varsity Firedump
....
.....
atc_parking_types=MIL_CARGO
atc_parking_codes=FIRE

Then, modify your AFCAD for EGDL to put a parking spot, mil_cargo & FIRE-coded.

Lo and behold, you have a quasi-static AI aircraft.

I wouldn't go overboard doing this with non-AI aircraft, and it probably helps to use DXT-1 textures, remove panels & interior textures from the texture folders, etc, but it does the job :smile: .

Cheers,

Kevin

I'm not as fortunate as Dan
first off I don't have traffic tools.
I have been installing alot of senery in FS recently and I'm a bit <<<<understatment>>>>
confused.
I think I might have installed two progge that are conflicting
I got bridges in water detail facing the wrong way
it looks more like a boat skiers launch ramp :doh:
I did save the post in my own doc file to refer to after i get things trimed up a bit.
I didn't want to be unapprecitive of the detail you put into the post.

Traffic Tools is available here http://www.simviation.com/fs2004utilities1.htm.

I can also recommend AITM, available here http://www.molitor-home.de/fs/AITM/, as another user-friendly aid to DIY AI.
