AS someone else remarked - who needs a 707 nose section
its just that what made the aircraft unique was what was hanging
under the wings oh yes and tail section - there are no "Tall Tail" 707s
remaining now I believe

I am sorry, but IMHO if your going to cut an aircraft down why bother? For me it's either all or nothing. You can't imagine the splendor of an aircraft from just a small section, and like Leif said, the main interest of the 707 was what was below the wings and the aircrafts tail.
Sunday rant over!

On a more cheerful note, from the same source: -
Fairey Gannet AEW.3 XL497 was transported to the Dumfries & Galloway Museum on April 13 and will go on display after re-assembly.
Seafire F.XV11 SX336 (G-KASX) is rapidly nearing post restoration first flight.
DH Dragon 2 is 50% restoration mark and will carry G-ACMO - its original UK registration. The restorer has on his wish list wheels, compression legs, window frames instruments and "tongue in cheek" - money.
Specially for you Leif - being as it is your part of the world - Hawker Sea Fury FB11 N4434P is up for sale via Courtesy Aircraft - a snip at $650.000, or Aerowing in Lincolnshire will knock you up a static metal Spitfire ll modelled on BOB's P7530

The problem with Furys for unlimited racing is they are too damn heavy
as I was telling someone yesterday :hi: I'll take PreciousMetal -the Griffon in it sounds incredible

If the Sea Fury is "too damned heavy" then how did Joe Thibedeau (pardon I spelled his name wrong) win the Silver Unlimited race in 2001 or 2002 (been too long now to remember exactly)?
I remember Joe's first test flight in that plane after it arrived at Centennial Airport. Came overhead my house at full throttle doing S-Turns and about 500 feet AGL. First time to hear a Hurcules, and man what a sweet sound (not to mention the shaking of the ground and body as a major plus). I will never forget that flyover, it comes in near the top of my all-time list of great flybys experienced first-hand. The B-1B, P-51D (Joe's other bird 'Crusader'), FG-1D, and B-29 are the other top ones so far.
It might be too heavy to beat a 'Rare Bear', 'Stregga' or 'Dago Red' in the Gold race, but in the Silver race, it beat 'Race 57' (the Super Corsair) and Joe's bird is pure stock (as is 'Race 57').
BTW, I'm planning on attending Reno this year. Maybe we'll get to meet.
