A Really Useful Aircraft

I would like to put in a word of thanks to Dave G for an aircraft which I've not seen mentioned in these pages - the Wallis autogyro.

For those who haven't tried it, it's a lovely little thing to fly, and I for one find it exceptionally useful for flying around airfield scenery just to check things out after an installation. I've probably flown it more often than any other FS aircraft, although only a few minutes at a time.

The model was, I think, originally intended for FS2002, but works just as well in FS9.

If you haven't already, try it. You'll like it.

Cheers,

Kevin

   Yes, that's the spirit of this little aircraft. I met Ken Wallis a few times over the years, and a keener, truer, total-aviation-person would be hard to find.

A real gentleman and someone who has never lost the youthful enthusiasm for flight in all its forms.

Kevin

PS That was incredibly quick, Leif. You were just waiting to pounce, weren't you?

I too have met Ken Wallis and he is extremly kind and understanding and is a true gent. He signed a little nellie model for me and a copy of his book.

Best still, I have a photo of me shaking his hand!

Dave, I think it's still right up there amongst the freeware models. If she was only your second model I am hugely impressed!

Never tried an autogyro in the sim. I think I saw the chap you are talking about in a tv show on the Discovery Channel. It involved some people rebuilding an old autogyro and then flying it. This chap had a huge collection of them, including Little Nellie.
