Virtual BEA

Some of you may have seen the Aeropalmas thread in CNB

So heres the drill - fill in the Poll - there are two parts

1/. Would you like to participate in a Virtual BEA69

2/. Would you be prepared to donate time and skills to setting it up

Understand this is a very very preliminary thing - some of the thought

process is how much of the BEA schedule would we like to fly, As PeterP

said Retro Airways could be mapped out, But the use of oranizations

such as VATSIM would be almost totally impossible, A modified schedule

could possibly be built for available flying worked around an AI porgram

such as the ones StPaddy was putting together, giving you a more

real world feeling. And unless you were prepared to totally modifiy FS

you would be operating in and out of 21st century airports.

So give it a thought and we will see where it goes

With one notable exception we have everything

Dumb dumb question seeing as I was already out of the country the FIRST
time then - 69 would be speedjack correct?

I think the Speedjack came in in 1968 though I cant quite be sure of that. Certainly both liveries existed in 1969. If you look on British Pathe there is some footage of Peter and Helen Kroger being deported and leaving LHR in a Trident 2 (G-AVFG) still wearing the red square scheme whilst it also shows another Trident departing in the HSJ scheme.

The Flying Jack livery (Never called the speedjack) was introduced on Trident 2E G-AVFI at the 1968 Farnborough Air Show.

By early the following year at least one of each type was painted

G-APEI Vanguard and G-AOJD Viscount . I think the Heron was G-ANXB but I have forgotten which Comet was the first.

Only the first few One-Elevens and the Trident Twos up to G-AVFH wore the Red Square.

I infact suggested BEA 1969 because it gave the best oppertunity to use as many different types that exist for FS, with the two liveries that we could.

Not being picky or anything, but perhaps going forward two or three years would give additional variety, with the BEA colour schemes and divisionalisation plus Northeast and Cambrian, and introduction of the Trident Three. Just a thought.
