For those who have access to BBC Sounds, and may enjoy listening to about 104 episodes of the Goon Show, be warned that Neddie and his pals will be disappearing from BBC Sounds in about 9 days. So about the 30th of March.

Maybe they will make room for episodes of Round The Horne or The Navy Lark.
I would suggest a moments silence, but that might encourage the Phantom Rasberry Blower of Old London Town.

I used to listen to The Goon Show, Round The Horne, The Navy Lark, I'm Sorry I'll Read That Again or I'm Sorry I Haven't A Clue every evening on the Radio 4 website. It was my Canadian wife's first introduction to them all and she became a big fan of Spike (helped by my book collection of his war memoirs), Sub-Lieutenant Phillips and the late great Humphrey Lyttelton! I think we heard every single episode of every show over the years we listened to them, it became a ritual every evening, 1-2 hours spent listening to great comedy on the R4 website. I think that was her first introduction to Dad's Army too!

The BBC often rerun these series on Radio 4 Extra (DAB) generally on Tuesday mornings around 07.30 or 08.00 UK time and repeated a couple of times through the day. The station is available via the BBC Sounds app.EricT

Radio 4 Extra is wonderful - along with Radio 6 Music, they are my two favourite BBC stations. However, a warning to those outside the UK - the BBC Sounds app will no longer be available to you from spring of this year. A new service is being launched for international listeners.
