I haven't done much flying in the US but tonight I've started ferrying G-BOEJ back from Roswell. As I'm flying along I'm looking at some of the airport names and they are fantastic. Just flying over "Sugar Land Regional (KSGR)" and "Toy Airpark"

Nice pics.

I'm about 30 minutes from Sugarland, TX. Founded by the Imperial Sugar Company and a true "company town" in its early years.

Some of the little private strips, like Toy, are just funny because the FAA doesn't really control the names. As long as they're not already used or profane, the FAA will register it if you fill out the right paperwork and provide the survey.

Thanks Chris, good to see you. There were lots of other names too, but I’d forgotten them by the time i came to post last night. The other thing is just how many airports there are, not just strips, but proper runways with ILS etc all within a few miles of each other. Really enjoyed last night. Next hop is along the coast to Tallahassee if I remember rightly.

You should make a detour to overfly Intercourse, Pennsylvania!

(a real town, but nearest airport is about 10mi away)
