I always liked him, he certainly had an unenviable challenge. Certainly a lot could be learned from him today.
Rest In Peace 🕊

He certainly seemed a decent man. He saw the value of the east and the west being on friendlier terms and relinquished the communist grip that the Soviet Union then had over much of eastern Europe. We could do with his likes today, rather than Putin.

RIP 'Gorby'

Kevin

Whatever your thoughts are on the individual politicians, I remember the world in the Thatcher/Reagan/Gorbachev period felt much more stable than now. :agree: R I P

I know what you mean, Eric. The lunacy seemed to be more under control back then.

That's for sure. :agree: And Gorby didn't even look Russian...unlike Leonid Brezhnev. Rest in peace, sir.

RIP Gorby. A decent affable chap who certainly will be remembered in the West for his contribution to peace and ending the cold war. The polar opposite of that creep Putin.

Didn't know where this video was going to go, but I found it to be very touching.

Really sad to hear this, he was instrumental in bringing down the Iron Curtain and forging better relations with the West plus reducing the chances of a nuclear war.

Pity the same cannot be said about Putin.

Nigel.
