A pleasant surprise

I'm just back in from a walk around the villager. At one point, I stopped to sit on a low wall for a couple of minutes. At that point, I noticed a movement to my right and on looking round was surprised to see a deer around 8-10ft from me. I think it was a Muntjac as it was only about as big as a medium sized dog. As I turned to look at it, it bolted across the road (fortunately the only car was going slowly - I think they were watching it too), I could hear it's hooves on the tarmac and then it disappeared up a driveway .

It was an incredible experience, but lasted just a few seconds.

Sound great Kevin. I remember (pre lockdowns) looking out of the first floor window in our office at the over grown wasteland behind the carpark, and about 30ft from were i stood there were two young deer. Something quite magical about it, particularly when its un expected.

Most enjoyable for you I'm sure Kevin. Often come across them at the top of the Country Park in Filey. Sometimes.
The following is quite true. I was crossing the main shopping street in Filey, and on reaching the other side found a "whale" right in front of me. Never shifted, so I said to her, "I'm not walking round you pet 'cause it's too far." She was very off hand about it I can tell you! Learned a few more words that day

It was an incredible experience. I remember thinking (and this probably only took a fraction of a second) - 'Dog?, No, not a dog!, What?, A threat?...No, it's a Deer!' It only lasted a few seconds before the Deer had bolted and run off.
Graham, you're lucky to come away from your comments to the 'whale' without any broken bones!
