St Valentine's day.

I was enjoying my life as a young airman with not a care in the World, when on 14th Feb 1959 I received a Valentine card that changed my life.

Who was this girl? Did I know her? How did she know my name rank and number, and my service address? Was it for real or was it a prank?

During a weekend at home, I discovered that she was a friend of my mates girlfriend, and was actually a very attractive girl that I had seen around our home town of Woking. My mate had got my details from my Mum and passed them on to the girl.

To cut a long story short, we got together and have been married for 61 years and still going strong. Got the card from the Queen on our 60th.

So thank you St Valentine for my good fortune.

:)

She also sends telegrams to people who reach 100 years old too.

Actually it's clerks in the Government doing the tracking but she takes the credit.

Separated and well into divorce proceedings and the last thing I wanted was a new relationship.. ever.

So why I kissed a woman friend, who I had known for a couple of years, I will never know. But I did and it was the best thing that ever happened. We have been married for 40 years and have yet to have our first disagreement.

Funny old world isn't it?
