I flew in one in 1972 when at the Paris Airshow. Had to return to England and collect another car. one thing I did not expect was on landing at Heathrow everyone broke into applause which I found a bit strange unless of course this was the crews first ever flight!!

Applause was a thing back in the day as I recall. Two BA Super Shuttle flights back in the late 80’s and both the Heathrow and Belfast legs where applauded on touchdown.

Bringing this thread back I came across a very interesting video of the Caravelle Simulator, the guy who gives the commentary on the flight deck is an Airbus pilot and he does fly the sim regularly, also interesting is the explanation of why the Caravelle had a flight engineer with very little to do!!
