We've joined the tiny percentage of Australians who have had their second dose.
So far so good.
Now we'll see if we join those who are immunised, but test positive.

We were scheduled for our 2nd last weekend, 'cept they canx'd it at last minute due to the heatwave we were experiencing. 45C I know you Oz types laugh at that but here it was a big deal. In fact we lost a whole town nearby in BC called Lytton to a forest fire. Simply awful.
Rebooked for 2 weeks ahead.

We heard about that here, Alex. Really bad news.
And, yes, we do get some heat, but sustained over 40s is hard to take anywhere, we wouldn't laugh it off, or think you had it easy, mate.
Good luck to you all, and keep safe.

Both Babs and I have had our 2nd jabs some months ago but already we are nervous about when all the restrictions are lifted.
Babs took a test with the NHS on whether the jabs had given her some protection and sadly, she does not have any immunity against Covid. There must be many in the same situation especially those who are being treated for cancer as their immunity would also be considerably reduced owing to the type of treatment being given.
We will still be wearing our masks when others do not and I hope that those who have had the full immunisation against Covid still show respect to others, whilst their conditions may not be life threatening should they become infected with Covid and have only light symptoms it does not mean that others will!!
So for those who cannot wait for a normal return to life please bear in mind that there will be others still very much at high risk of hospitalisation and even death!!
Regards
Nigel.

My younger daughter showed me some graphs yesterday, which compare infection rates with hospitalizations during each of the three waves in the UK. The rate of infection is steeper this time because of the Delta variant, but the hospitalization rate is way WAY down. This is evidence that the vaccines are working, apparently. Had my second jab in May,and will definitely have the booster that's planned for September.

I trust you’ve seen Andrew Marr interview one of the scientists from SAGE.
The vaccines do not give immunity and do not stop transmission, but reduce the risk of hospital admission for those at risk.
The worldwide PR campaign had lured those vaccinated into a false sense of security.
Finally we are today getting some reality from Javid. We are just going to have to live with it.
