That reminds me of when I was a kid and my Nan and Grandad had just got their first telephone. The phone rang and my Nan (who wasn't blonde) answered. She only stayed on the phone for a brief time. My Mom asked why she didn't chat for longer, to which my Nan replied that she'd had a cheese and onion sandwich and didn't want the caller to smell her breath.

I had a relative back in the day who always dressed nicely to watch the evening news. She assumed that if she could see the news presenter they could see her.

I can tell you from experience that the postal sorting machines can distort the words.
Best to used a padded envelope.
