International tennis players

We've heard a lot of complaints from people associated with the upcoming Australian Open, regarding the lack of training opportunities whilst they are in 14 day isolation.
The Spanish government has even demanded that their players be released because they are elite athletes who will be damaged psychologically and physically by being prevented from training.
Most days, the news tells us that there have been zero locally acquired cases in Victoria, and 3,6 etc cases among the tennis cohort. Really, what do they expect?

This is the sort of nonsense that you can expect from sport players and governments. Although the players are much fitter due to practise workouts it does not mean that they are immune to Covid, as for being damaged psychologically and physically by being prevented from training then that is a load of Bo**ocks, how do they think we have managed throughout the last year due to travel restrictions and socialising? As for the Spanish Government to make crass comments like that has left me speechless,
Politicians..NFFP!!

Nigel.

Gotta love it when a national government lobs stupid comments like that over the sidelines. They should be in a court somewhere!

One has to wonder why, in the middle of a global pandemic of a highly infectious and dangerous virus, Australia thinks its acceptable to risk holding the Open in the first place. That, to me, is the bottom line absurdity in all this.

Couldn't agree more, Paul.

UPDATE
It transpires that the Chinese offered two sites to fill in for Melbourne.
If either of them had been used, Australia would have been deleted as a Grand Slam venue, and not just for 2021.
