Recycling NOT

This was not a conspiracy theory trash video, but a serious investigation broadcast by our national TV, the ABC.
According to a documentary aired last night, the recycle triangles with a number inside are a trick by the plastics industry.
The numbers indicate the type of plastic.
They are "technically recyclable", but the cost of recycling means that it is cheaper to make new items, so they are not recycled.
Without making plastic, the petrochemical industry would be unprofitable.
Particularly since China refused to take polluted "recyclables" from the rest of the World, the problem is shunted off to countries like Indonesia, where they sift through thousands of containers to extract whatever they can use, then have huge fires to reduce the volume of the residual.
It is widely accepted that only 10% of plastic is recycled.
The industry recently unveiled ground breaking new sorting equipment, which turns out to be exactly the same as the one built in the 1970s It cost millions, but was sold as scrap because the sorting was a waste of time; nobody would handle the material.
