Classic British Flight Sim

Hi, I have been absent from Flight Simming for 4 years so on my return I am understandably a tad rusty on technical issues. I am running Windows Pro 7 with a GeForce GTX580 card and to be honest I have never actually set it up for FSX...just used the PC as it arrived.

Now I am back into Simming I see that the instruments and some details on aircraft exteriors are oversharp or a bit sparkly if that makes sense and I am sure I am not getting the best from it. Can anyone tell me what the best settings for this card would be? and what settings re AA and filtering should be selected or not selected in FSX with this card. I have looked on other forums and just got conflicting opinions so getting a bit concerned that I am running the card incorrectly.

I too used to have a GTX580, but sadly it's spirit has departed to join the great PC in the sky.
I doubt that you are using the card 'incorrectly'. Along with having the latest NVIDEA drivers, NVIDEA Inspector (http://www.guru3d.com/files-details/nvi ... nload.html - don't click on any of the green 'download' icons, use one of the blue text links directly below 'Download Locations') is a great tool for fine tuning NVIDEA settings for individual games/programs. It's been a while since I used it, as it doesn't do much for Prepar3D but a good guide for FSX can be found here - http://www.simforums.com/forums/drivers ... 36586.html.
I realise the guide is a little old and that NVIDEA Inspector has been updated, but hopefully this will help you get the best out of FSX.

Thanks for the tip Kevin....I got quite confused when conflicting forum comments elsewhere discussed letting the AA be controlled 'in game' or by the Graphics card...then they talk about bi-linear, tri-linier and Anistropic filtering or whatever it's called, naturally I felt overloaded with options....doesn't take much of that chat before I glaze over and don't take anything in. Guess you have to have an interest in the technical side of the PC which I have to admit...I don't.

However...I will try out that utility and see what improvements I get....thank you.
