Thanks for the HU FJ

Saw this highlighted at SoH. The Screenies don't look bad. All the round bits are round which is always a good sign. Didn't realise that Blackbox was none other than Graham Waterfield of PSS fame!

Mike, if you value your sanity, stay away from this. I just wasted AUD23 and 2 hrs of my time trying to install what I paid for.
The installer is a shambles. It tries to install stuff for a whole range of Airbus models, which I did not ask for and do not want. If you press 'Ignore' and keep pressing it, you finally see a Bulldog file - but like the rest, it throws a decompression error, and the only option then is to abort the install. That means the Preflight Manager will not work, so you cannot activate your purchase.. The absence of those archive files also affects the uninstaller, so even though it said it had been succesful, there were Blackbox folders remaining in several places and I had to remove them manually. Haven't looked at the Registry yet, to see what damage it has done there.

As far as I'm concerned, the product as supplied is unfit for use, so I will want a refund ASAP. Pity I can't recover the bandwidth wasted on downloading it.

Take care
MikeW

Thank you very much, Mike.
Sorry you've had such trouble.
Hope that you get your refund.
Incredible that commercial sellers can't get it right. :|

btw, as I'm going to Airshows Downunder in a couple of days, are there any particular photos that I could help with?
(I'm only a very average photographer, but there may be some detail of interest to you)

MikeW..

Someone at SoH reported problems with installation and it was attributed to his AV (MSE). GW responded almost immediately with a new link and instructions and the install went ok. The user hasn't reported back with his impressions but at least the install routine was sorted.

Sorry, that was me. GW sent me a link to download the BlackBox Preflight Manager separately, which worked perfectly - I didn't find it much more hassle than activating a RealAir or Flight 1 release. I also tried his suggestion of adding the installer.exe to the exceptions in MS Essentials and found that the decompression worked perfectly. Since then all customers have received activation instructions, with an apology for all the confusion. I am quite enjoying it so far, a nice stablemate for Rob Richardson's Pup - I'm not saying the hassle was OK, just resolved to my satisfaction.

Ah ha, an aircraft I have RW flying experience in... RAF elementary flying training in fact, courtesy of a UAS... :fly: I may end up caving and buying this one. The screenshots look great, but the 2/5 from 21 reviews doesn't and neither do the reports of install issues...
