It does look rather nice, doesn't it. Not sure the Typhoon itself appeals to me as a flight simulator aircraft , but I might come round to it. No denying that it's a lovely model though.

Great looking screenie!
Handsome aircraft, but I would need some tempting to take the plunge.

I am far more tempted by this than the JF Hunter that just came out, can I exercise control.

It wasn't showing as a new release at JF this afternoon but was (is) available from there. Click on Latest News.. then click on the Typhoon article and you go straight to the product page where you can buy it. I did. Had just enough time to download and install it with a quick look around before I went to work. There's an issue with the startup smoke fx file which Baz is now aware of and is on the case. Not had any real time in it but it feels heavy as you'd expect though not overly so. On the surface and after a very brief flight.. it looks and flies ok to me. I've no idea how close the FD is.. the Tiffie has never been one of my 'go to' aircraft but thus far, it seems ok. Not been in from work long and am knackered so I don't really feel like flight testing at this time of the day. On a 10hr late tomorrow which fills me with a great deal of joy

Will be able to look closer on Sunday
Alternatives are few. The old Alpha model will work in FSX but is well past it's best-by date. The FCS/Abacus model is poor whichever way you look at it. The AH model is head and shoulders above both as it should be
EDIT: Startup effect sorted by AH

So what do you reckon Dave? Worth the money? I'm tempted to get it as it's only a tenner with my JF points.

Hello Mate
It's probably well worth a tenner of anyones money. The SP
has addressed the problems noted elsewhere but.. and there's always a but.. there are still a couple of things that aren't ideal. It's not easy to trim level (you're either going up or down). Tweaking the elevator trim effectiveness should help slow it down a little. Worse (for me) is it's propensity to bounce on landing. I've tried slow/fast.. heavy/light.. varying degrees of flap (of which there are many) and the bloody thing still bounces. I think I've managed ONE landing where it didn't and for that, I was outside and pulled a 3-pointer. The technique (from pilots of the day) is to land on the mains and let the rear settle when it's ready. I don't know if you have the AF Corsair but this was the same before Fleiger747(sp) released a revised airfile/cfg for it. I actually stopped flying it for that very reason and hope the Typhoon doesn't end up the same!
I'm no Typhoon expert but the model looks ok. Someone has commented on the sounds being poor but I'm neither here nor there. They're ok for me. AH have been experimenting with the prop animation again. It looks different when viewed from front or rear but it's ok from inside. FS is notoriously fickle when it comes to prop animation anyway.
No TP functionality and none to come but with an armament consisting of 4 cannons + 8x3lb Rockets/2xbombs.. it shouldn't be too difficult for someone knock this up. Likewise for anyone with CS Weapons.
Handling is as you'd expect. This is no Storch and you're aware of that but it has a good turn of speed and can be moved around without drama. Take off needs concentration to stop it running to the right but it's not bad once speed has risen. Landing is equally drama-free 'cept the aforementioned bounce.
The paints are ok.. typically AH. Not looked at the PK but one is included in the download. I believe Baz mentioned it was all on one map. Not sure what scope there is for repaints. It was used by quite a few squadrons but progressively withdrawn as the Tempest came online.
I'd like to say yep.. give it a go with a hearty thumbs up but I'd like to see something done about the landing bounce first. If you can put up with that.. then go for it

Thanks for that Dave.

I think I'll pick it up tomorrow, no time left tonight, SWMBO is calling!

.
The landing bounce should be tweakable & I may have a look at TP-ing it.
