Advice needed Problems with Loading Flights.

Me again, I put in a question for advice at Orbx and so far no-one has come forward to help, I have also put in another request for help but don't honestly think that will come anytime soon (hopefully I'm wrong).
When on the main screen of FSX and I select a flight it now takes 5-6 minutes to load up, this has only started after I downloaded their new FTX Central as my sim worked perfectly well before.
It has got to the point where I might as well throw in the towel and uninstall FSX re-installing so that I only run the previous version of FTX Central which was OK. This I can do as I have all previous updates on memory stick, it may mean that I will no longer be able to purchase FTX products in the future but that is a small price to pay just to get FSX back to where it was.
I have again de-fragged my hard drive, I took a look at the insertion points in FSX Library and found that all ORBX products are at the top and things such as Traffic360 UK 2000 Airports are below and wonder if this could be the problem?
Any help, advice or a mallet would be grateful
Regards
Nigel.

Nigel..
I don't have any ORBX products but the problem you describe has been flagged by at least 2 other users. Have a look over at SoH in the FSX forum area. You'll find a thread about Central v3 and should be able to get sorted.

Hi Dave, I have done that but only given what might be....One is stating that he re-arranged his scenery library as FTX put everything in alphabetical order. I think that this is where the problem lies but not sure where FTX Products (areas) go, looking at mine FTX is at the top of the list above other add-ons that I have, what I need to know is do the FTX areas go below the add-ons?
Think I might have to try and move 'em, at worst it will make no difference to loading times at best.................it may improve!!
Many thanks anyway.
Regards
Nigel.

Depends on what addons you have Nige. IF, for example, you have any UK2000 sceneries.. these have to go above ORBX. Thinking about it.. ORBX would probably go below every other addon as it's the base all others sit on if that makes sense.. similar though not the same as GenX.

You've hit the nail right on the head Dave, this is what I thought but the new FTX Central has virtually taken over, I sent all of ORBX down to the deep depths of the Library Scenery and all add-ons above it but that still has not solved the problem of slow loading of flights.
It is getting to the point where I am fast losing patience with FTX and their support as others who have posted replies have only indicated that they have had the same problem, one member has said that he believed that ORBX puts everything in alphabetical order and he changed the settings by editing the scenery config file. Now that is alright if you know how to do it but me............I am likely to make a hash of it without a simple........and I mean simple ABC of how to do things.
Sadly it appears from the experience I am getting that the Orbx customer service is very poor. Ultimately the only thing that is left is to un-install FSX and re-install it and go back to using the previous version of FTX Central which I will have somewhere on the memory stick, I don't think it will do any good un-installing FTX Central as it is....or would it?
Do you think a system restore would work and take FTX Central out leaving me with the original one I had? Think I might try that.

Nigel.

I'm honestly not sure what to suggest for the best Nige. The chap at SoH having the excessive load times managed to (somehow) add all his sceneries to the addon scenery folder.. if I understand his English. In fact, his Addon Scenery folder looked more like his FSX main folder

I guess it would do no harm to check the contents of your Addon Scenery folder to make sure the only things in there are what you want in there. Hopefully.. the ORBX users here (there must be ONE!!) will jump in to help.

An hour ago I was replying to your post Dave when Sky cut me orft to put me on a no restriction download contract, although slower at least I can get what I want without fear of going over the limit!
Anyway, back to the subject in hand, I have now decided what I am going to do and that is completely uninstall FSX then do a complete re-install. I know this sound drastic but I honestly don't think much about their Forum, it appears to be rather impersonal and sometimes your questions are left unanswered, this has happened to me a number of times and I have now joined the Avsim Forum and would rather put my questions there if there is a chance my posts are answered. I know it is not the official forum but I am extremely unhappy with nothing positive coming out from my posts asking for help or advice.
When I was without internet I did manage to download a number of updates from FTX site and these are all stored along with everything else on my 128Gb dongle which is solely for FSX. After the re-install I will have FTX Central 2 instead of the new one but that does not bother me, if in the future I cannot download or purchase any of their products due in fact that I do not run FTX 3 then that is their loss not mine as I can manage quite happily with version 2 and of the scenery that I already have.
Next question is.....I have Rex Essentials + Overdrive, as this is basically a standalone from FSX can you advise whether I should uninstall it then re-install after FSX is installed or can I just leave it as it is and once FSX is installed and just create the textures that I need as one normally does?
Any help appreciated. Now off to Jons' post again.
Regards
Nigel.

Ooooooh.. REX!
If you're going to reinstall FSX to exactly the same location with the same name e t c.. I can't see why REX E+OD wouldn't continue to work but, I think you'd be better uninstalling it then reinstalling it when the new FSX is in place and registered. Ideally, you want to have the new FSX install as good as it can possibly be so try not jeopardise it
