Classic British Flight Sim

Have received the hub from Sky this week ready for connection on Tuesday, one question I have is that they have given me a Password and Pin Number and example given below:

Password: ABC

Pin 123

I will be required to use either one depending on which I am asked for when signing in to broadband, do I have to keep using these as they given or is this just one time only to get connected.

Secondly, I will use Wifi on my computer instead of plugging in the ethernet cable to the back of the computer, so as to have security for Wifi how do you apply a password so no-one else can gain access and also, should I now apply a password on boot up for Windows?

Sorry to ask waht may seem silly questions but when I was on the internet before it was through ethernet connection but mine will now be through Wifi and don't want to fall into the trap of some-one using or accessing my Wifi.

Sky hubs have a unique MAC address and password on the unit itself and you'll use these to access the WiFi. I wouldn't worry about security as the only people able to access the WiFi from that hub will be you.. unless you make a sign in your window advertising what the MAC address and password are

When you set your laptop up.. Windows will probably ask if you 'always want to connect to this network'. Say yes and that's it. You'll still have to login to your laptop as usual but you don't have to login to the WiFi. Windows will detect it and connect you after you've given it the MAC address and password the first time.

EDIT.. Thinking about it, when the Sky bloke turns up.. I'm pretty sure he'll set your internet up for you so make sure you don't let him leave until it's up and running.

Just to echo the above.

We didnt have to set any security up with our Sky BB as it was already set with the passwords etc. Just remember to use CAPS as is shown on the card that comes with the Router. You will also req this password for your mobile phone to use the wifi but once youve typed it in you wont need to do it again.........Keep the details in a safe place and not in such a safe place that you cant remember where the safe place is....as the memsahib did with ours
