De Havilland DH-51

My latest build is progressing nicely -

Yes, it's the DH 51 at the Shuttleworth Trust. Not De Havillands most succesful offering although it did point the way for
their later series of Moths.
The model will be a native FS9 build with good performance in FSX. Only the exterior is nearing completion, then it's on to the V.C.
Cheers

Good one Dave. Seems it was the engine that curtailed more being sold as the RAF1A had only single ignition & the Halford/Renault/Airdisco was then too expensive.

Thanks Keith - spot on.

BTW I'm pondering whether to animate all 16 rocker arms in correct firing order (as on the Curtiss Jenny)

Very topical Dave!
I was recently reading about the DH50 kicking off what was to become the RFDS. (OK it's not exactly the same, but close)
You'll have your work cut out if you do that full animation, but it would be great to see it happen.

And why not, you should be able to do one pot, then the others are duplicates? Should be no worse than my chain in the Streak!
Got to have a challenge every now & then!
Good luck

" you should be able to do one pot, then the others are duplicates?"
Er no Keith - you will do doubt recall from the good old days of D.I.Y. engine repairs that the cylinders
fire in a strange sequence like 1-3-4-2. It is already done in FS9 so I've no real excuse.

...Or in my Cammy minor 1-3-2-4, so when the head gasket blew between 3 & 2 it wasn't very powerful....
Now what the firing order for a V8 (or even a V12) is I have not got a clue, although I had one RAF chum who could recite the Merlin firing order as a party trick.....

Thanks chaps
Just had a play and yes, I can get it all to work using 'engine_rocker_arm _xx - two each a piece all round on each cylinder. Have animated two cylinders - only another six to go.
Maybe I'll just duplicate one bank across the block ?

Not tonight though.
Cheers
