Fsx and 4 monitors

Hi all
Just upgraded my graphics card from a radeon 6070 to a Nvidia gtx 970
Fine you might say
My flight sim setup is asus mother board with onboard ati graphics. It was happily running 4 monitors One hdmi plugged into the 6070 (one gig memory) another monitor, dvi plugged into the onboard, and the remaining 2 vga monitors plugged into a low end Radeon graphics card
Now main reason for change is to up the memory to 4 gig to stop OOMs and the general advise is to use NVidia for fsx anyway. Also if multi monitors are working from one graphics card DX10 can be enabled. So, new card installed and connected up. After much resizing and juggling the screens around I could get fsx to run with all 4 monitors active from just the gtx 970 card. One hdmi, one dvi and 2 vga plugged into 2 Displayports using adapters All is fine until I try to drag instruments onto one of the vga screens, where the instrument then vanishes. This happens on either vga monitor but not at the same time. It varies whenever fsx is started. To get round this Iv'e reinstalled the low end Radeon card and plugged one of the vga monitors into it. Success ! We have all 4 working correctly, and a frame rate never seen before. Cant say fsx looks much better but not tried altering anything in fsx.cfg or inspector yet. Obviously much smoother now (locked and achieving 35fps) But by having to use 2 cards now screws me trying DX10 and Steve's fixer, or so I'm led to believe
I don't know if the one graphics card rule is the same for P3d or for the dovetail sim in the pipeline
